Layers of the Earth for Kids

Studying the Earth is a fascinating journey into various aspects of geology.

Whether you’re homeschooling or teaching in a school environment,  it’s important to find resources that will teach age-appropriate material in an engaging way.

With so many books and resources tailored towards studying the earth, it can be a daunting task to find ones suitable for young children and even more difficult to determine what is accurate and reputable.

Fortunately, in the case of my layers of the earth for kids packet, I can say that the activities and information your students will learn meet all the criteria of a good learning tool for homeschooling or classroom teaching.

1. Introduction to the Earth’s Layers

– a brief introduction for kids on what each layer is made of and why they are important.

2. A Word Scramble

– Kids cut out letters to form words that help them remember the order of layers starting with the crust and ending with the core.

3. True or False Questions

– Kids read through simple questions that help reinforce the order of the layers and general information about each one.

4. A Labeling Activity

– Kids label diagrams to show each of the four layers of Earth, using different colors they will also differentiate the layers within the spheres.
